Welcome to PetitionNZ.

These Terms of Service govern your use of this website and any forms, petitions, or content made available through it. By accessing or using this platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. About this platform

PetitionNZ is a public-interest platform designed to allow individuals to express support for petitions and related initiatives.

This platform is not a government service, not a political party, and not a legal service.

During its initial development phase, this platform is currently operated and administered by Brilin Ltd, a New Zealand–based company. Administrative arrangements may evolve as the platform develops.


3. Nature of petitions and content

All petitions hosted on this platform are expressions of public concern or support.

By using this platform, you acknowledge that:

- Petitions are not legally binding

- Submissions are expressions of opinion or support only

- The platform does not guarantee any particular outcome

Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice, medical advice, or instructions regarding interactions with law enforcement.


4. User submissions

When you submit information through this platform, including signing a petition or submitting comments, you agree that:

- Your submission is voluntary

- The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge

- You will not submit content that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, misleading, or threatening

- You will not submit content that encourages unlawful behaviour

The platform reserves the right to remove or moderate submissions that breach these Terms or undermine the integrity of the platform.


5. Use of information and publication

Individual petition submissions are not publicly displayed by default.

Aggregate or anonymised information, such as total numbers of supporters or general themes, may be published or shared for reporting or informational purposes.

Personal contact details will not be publicly disclosed without consent, except where required by law.


6. Verification and integrity

Reasonable steps are taken to maintain the integrity of petition submissions, including filtering duplicate or test entries and reviewing submissions prior to reporting totals.

The platform does not verify identity documents or citizenship status unless explicitly stated.


7. Availability and changes to the platform

The platform is currently in Phase One and is being developed in stages.

We may:

- Add, modify, or remove features

- Update content or functionality

- Temporarily suspend access for maintenance

- We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that the platform will always be available in its current form.

This platform may include links to third-party websites or social media platforms.

We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of third-party services. Use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies

Any donations or contributions made through this platform are voluntary.

Supporting a petition does not require a donation.

PetitionNZ is not a registered charity, and donations are not tax deductible unless explicitly stated otherwise.


10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, or inconvenience arising from:

- Reliance on information provided through petitions or content

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
Data security and breach response

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, misuse, or disclosure.

While no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we use established platforms and appropriate safeguards to reduce risk.

In the event of a suspected or confirmed privacy breach involving personal information, we will assess the situation and take appropriate steps in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Where required, affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner will be notified.
